Who is struggling with New Year’s resolutions? It’s not uncommon, plenty of us have issues on this front especially when it comes towards the end of January when more pressing issues can be on our mind and there are more pulls on our time.
Well first of all, know that you are not alone with this struggle. Secondly, there are a few practical ways that you can get over this motivational hump.
Today we are going to look at “micro resolutions” and specifically, resolutions focused on improving IT for your business. Here are four really great things that you can do in ten minutes or less that (though not massive) will get your business Pointing in the right direction.
Lets dive in!
Do a software update
The first thing that too many people put off is doing software updates. The real upside to setting this as a micro resolution is that is really does take a small amount of your time.
The majority of time spent on this will be the machine updating. The active time that you need to spend on this activity is selecting the option to shutdown or restart your device and update. Head off to make a cup of tea whilst you do the next actions.
Update passwords or get a password app
For the long term readers of this blog, this will come as no surprise. Updating your password is a good thing to do to keep the data you use in your business safe and secure. Many people end up using the same password for everything which means that if one thing is compromised, everything is compromised.
If memorising hundreds of individual passwords feels like too much of a hassle for you – and you would not be alone feeling this – then it might be worth investing in a password app. There are plenty available now at very affordable prices.
Book some training
The third thing you can do as a micro resolution is to get yourself booked onto some training. Think about skills gaps that came up for you last year. What do you wish you had learnt or had more time to deep dive into?
You might have even identified a wider skills gap across your entire team that you could get everyone trained on. Regardless, getting yourself booked in for some personal development will take less than ten minutes, and will pay you back multiple times over.
Book a consultation
When you think about training and skills gaps you think about the things you don’t know. But what about the things you don’t know you don’t know?
Admittedly this is a bit of a clunky way of putting it, but there are plenty of things that sit in our blind spot that we can address with the help of experts. If you want to take your IT processes to the next level this year then take ten minutes to get booked in for a consultation.
