So here we are at the end of another year. An excellent time to look back on the past 12 months, reflect on the successes you’ve had, and think about how to set yourself up for success in 2022.
In our last blog for this year, we’re talking about how to see you and your business up for success in 2022. Yes, it’s true that there is a whole lot of uncertainty at the moment – but regardless of the
type of business you run or the specific challenges you find yourself facing, following these three principles will set you in good stead.
I think we’ve all sat through enough CPD training and management seminars to be very familiar with the concept of SMART targets. Yes, they might be a cliche, but they are used for a reason – because they
work.
In short, the goals that you set for yourself should be:
Framing a goal within these measures helps to ensure it gets done, and helps to give you a sense of achievement once it is complete.
The reason to set goals is that they help to keep you motivated and working towards the bigger picture. If you don’t know what you’re working towards then it’s easy to just float along working on whatever turns up. Get yourself focused with some goals.
Once you have your goals in place you’ll want to ensure that you have a way of keeping yourself accountable to them. SMART goals are really helpful for putting the right goals in place, but there are things that you can do to ensure that things get done.
Accountability is about having someone else, or a group of people. in your corner and encouraging you to hit the goals you’ve set.
A business coach or a mastermind group might be the perfect things for you to look at in 2022, if you’ve been struggling to keep on top of the goals you’ve set yourself.
The final thing to do that will help you to achieve your goals more successfully in 2022, is to remove the blockers that are holding you back.
We mentioned above how a business coach or a mastermind group might be helpful if you’re struggling to keep yourself accountable to your goals.
But there are many more reasons than just you that might hold you back. Think about the way that you work and your technology setup. We wrote earlier this year about ways that you can set up your IT for
success (and the fact of the matter is that bad IT can be as much of a reason as any other for people not hitting goals).
Have a long hard think about what is holding you back from hitting your goals and take action to remove them in 2022. And if IT is one of those areas, then speak to us.
These are just three areas to think about ahead of the New Year. All that remains is for us to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2022.
