Microsoft has recently announced that Skype for Business will soon be no more, and Microsoft Teams will replace it.
Does your company use Microsoft Skype for Business for communications? We know a lot of you do, and it’s easy to understand why. It has been the staple communications tool for Office 365 users for many years, and gives a nice breadth of features including instant messaging, video conferencing and voice calls.
What you might be slightly less familiar with is Microsoft Teams, which crept onto the scene for Office 365 users a few years ago and has been gradually gaining traction ever since.
The big news from Microsoft is that Teams will replace Skype for Business, starting now for any new Office 365 customers and transitioning more slowly for existing customers.
Microsoft Teams brings all of the communication features of Skype for Business, but adds a great deal more around collaboration between colleagues and departments and really builds on the internal communication capability of Skype for Business.
We see this transition as a good thing and we’d encourage you to start looking seriously at Microsoft Teams if you haven’t already – we dare say you’d be impressed.
