There are plenty of IT problems that could result in you waking up in a cold sweat. Perhaps it’s something spooky in the air this months that is bringing them to the forefront of the mind.
That being said, plenty of people have anxiety around the work that they do – and given how much of our work is now done with a computer it makes sense that some of that anxiety is extended to IT.
With that in mind, this week’s blog looks at some of the biggest scares that IT can give you, and most importantly, how to avoid them.
Losing the document you’re working on
Is there anything more frustrating than losing the document you’re working on. It’s happened to most people more than once, either through the machine crashing or through human error in forgetting to hit save. Either way, it’s a nightmare.
Helpfully there is a relatively quick fix to ensure that you aren’t haunted by this IT issue. Make the switch to cloud based programes mean that documents are auto saved for you. Helpfully most software is now doing this as standard, but if you’re still having to save manually it might be time to upgrade.
Computer infested with a virus
Right up there with the frustrations of losing an unsaved document is the problems that occur when you have a virus infest your computer. This can happen for many reasons but often it comes down to human error.
As such there are two routes to take that can protect you from this. First is to ensure that you have a robust and up to date anti virus installed on your machine. The second is to ensure that you and your team have got good training on cyber security to reduce the risk of human error.

Obviously this is not an ideal situation and may be related to the first two issues detailed in this list. However, don’t worry, it might be as simple as switching it off and on again. If it isn’t, we’ve detailed some other ideas on how to fix this
